IKEA Safety Gates Recall Due to Hazard Risk

IKEA has published a warning to customers who have purchased a PATRULL KLÄMMA or a PATRULL SMIDIG pressure mounted safety gate.

The website states that these products are safe to use at the bottom of a staircase or in a doorway between rooms. It however warns against the use of the PATRULL KLÄMMA or PATRULL SMIDIG pressure mounted safety gates at the top of a staircase, which poses a risk of injury and fall hazard.

According to IKEA, there has been 3 reports or injury to children as a result of falling downwards on stairs when these products have been in use at the top of a staircase.

IKEA is issuing a full refund to consumers wishing to return their PATRULL KLÄMMA or PATRULL SMIDIG safety gate with manufacturing date stamp 1510 (YYWW year-week) or prior.
